Scott Mandell - CEO, President and Founder

Scott Mandell has served as the Company’s President/CEO since its inception in March 2001. As the founder of Enjoy Life, Scott has become one of the most experienced entrepreneurs in the allergy-friendly / gluten-free food industry. He was instrumental in building the business from the ground up by writing the original business plan and overseeing all segments of the start-up business, including product development, packaging design, marketing, sales, and equipment purchases, among others. He also recruited the Board of Directors and entire management team.   

Scott remains extremely involved in all aspects of the company including day-to-day operations and company strategy. He remains a hands-on leader, ensuring that all aspects of the business are kept within the brand promise and company mission. 

By creating innovative and functional ways to serve food-sensitive consumers, Scott has become a thought-leader in the allergy-friendly and gluten-free markets. He is a fixture on allergy-friendly and gluten-free expert panels, and as a keynote speaker, has been able to take an informational / educational perspective, while introducing the Enjoy Life™ brand to consumers and the industry. 

Prior to Enjoy Life Foods, Scott worked eight years (1993-2001) as a commercial lender and relationship manager for American National Bank and Trust Company of Chicago (currently owned by JP Morgan Chase), where he previously held the title of Vice President. His responsibilities included providing financial service solutions to a broad range of privately held, middle market companies throughout the Chicagoland area. His position allowed him to work closely with entrepreneurial business owners, venture capitalists, and other members of the financial community.

He earned his Bachelor of Arts degree from Indiana University (Bloomington) in 1993 with a major in History and a minor in Business. In December 2001 he earned his MBA from the Kellogg Graduate School of Management at Northwestern University with concentrations in the areas of Entrepreneurship & Innovation, Finance, and Management & Strategy.

Scott serves on the following outside boards: the Gluten Free Certification Organization, the American Celiac Disease Alliance, and Tula Foods Inc. Scott is also a mentor to many start-up entrepreneurs and is an active alumni and frequent speaker at the Kellogg Graduate School of Management. 

Scott was inducted into the Chicago Area Entrepreneurship Hall of Fame in 2006 and was named to the Crain’s Chicago Business “40 under 40” list in November 2008.

His hobbies include skiing, golfing, and poker. Scott qualified for and played in the 2005 World Series of Poker. He is also an avid sports fan of the Chicago White Sox, Chicago Bears, Chicago Bulls, and the Indiana Hoosiers.   
 
Scott resides in Deerfield, IL with his wife (Dana) and their two boys (Ronnie and Ryan).
